Consciousness

Knowing, how do we know, that we know, what we know.

Auguste Rodin (1840 –  1917)

This question is just as much a puzzle as the concept of right or wrong.  It is in the mindset of the continued search for our identity and the ways we find out about the world. I suppose if there is one word that can describe this in its most simplistic; would be “consciousness”.   The term is defined as an awareness of surrounding, but it is also an abstract word which makes arriving at a definition even more perplexing.  To understand consciousness one begins to look for ideas on how the mind works, and for that to turn at the philosophy of mind to get some handle on this fascinating subject.
